Nelson S. Case, age 87, of West, passed away late Wednesday morning, January 9, 2008 at a Temple nursing home.
Memorial services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 16,2008 at Aderhold Funeral Home Chapel in West, with Dr. John Crowder officiating.
Mr. Case was born December 21, 1920 in Ross, the son of Buford and Virginia (Nichols) Case. He attended schools in Ross and West before graduating from West High School in 1937. He served his country with the United States Army Air Corp during World War II. On August 22, 1942 he was united in marriage to Joyce Sord in West. Joyce, a longtime West High School teacher, preceded him in death on September 1, 2001. Nelson worked for the West Cotton Mill before becoming the manager of the West Twine Mill. He retired in 1974 to enjoy fishing and working in his yard. Nelson also liked nature and watching old movies.
Survivors include their daughter, Cathy Schiffman and her husband Hal of Harker Heights; two grandsons, Steven Rosen and Ricky Rosen; great grandchildren, Reagan Rosen and Austin Case Rosen; and many other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Joyce Case Memorial Scholarship Fund.
